A series of intersection impacts and lane closures to reconstruct the intersection at Denny Way and 7th Ave begins this weekend as part of WSDOT’s north surface street connections project. Crews are rebuilding 7thAve N and reconnecting Harrison, Thomas, and John Streets east-west.

Work will begin at 8 PM this Friday, August 9 and all lanes will be reopened by 5 AM Monday, August 12. Denny Way will be reduced to one lane in each direction between Borealis Ave and Dexter Ave N, and Borealis Ave will maintain one northbound lane.

The result of this work will create a modern streetscape on these streets, with crews installing sidewalks, signals, streetlights, and restoring the street’s surface.

Look for future weekend work at this location.

There will be noise impacts during sawcutting and excavation operations. For more information, visit WSDOT’s webpage.

Good news, Water Taxi and Kitsap Fast Ferry riders! The King County Water Taxi and Kitsap Fast Ferry will reopen at their original location at Alaskan Way and Yesler Way on Monday, August 12. This will increase the amount of people walking in the area, so please slow down and be aware if you’re driving on Alaskan Way.

Please be aware that Yesler Way is currently closed for viaduct demolition, so if you’re walking in the area, please use Columbia St to the north or Jackson St to the south. We’ll be monitoring these intersections closely beginning Monday morning to make sure everyone is moving safely through this area!

Yesler Way and King St will reopen on Tuesday, August 20, which will reopen the sidewalk for your use. Please note that on Wednesday, August 21, Jackson St will close as part of viaduct demolition. Follow along with the latest information on WSDOT’s viaduct demolition tracker.
