Let someone else do the driving for you! There are many transit options in Seattle, including bus, streetcar, light rail, commuter rail, water taxi, and ferry. Learn about payment options, planning your route, assisted transit programs, and more below.

  • Rider tools – Guide from King County Metro to help you plan your trip using Metro services. 
  • Google Maps – Use Google Maps to view commute options, routes, transit schedules, and offline maps, plus figure out the best time to visit a place, and more. Available in your web browser, and in app format for Android and iPhone. 
  • One Bus Away – App for Android and iPhone that provides real-time transit information. 
  • Metro Trip Planner – Plan a trip, view upcoming departure times, and view the positions of vehicles in real time. 
  • Hopelink Transportation Resource Line – Provides one-on-one support in finding unique transportation options that fit clients’ needs, public transportation routes, and individualized trip plans. 
  • To talk to someone for trip planning assistance: 
    • Call King County Metro customer service at 206-553-3000, Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. If you need an interpreter, press 1 to connect to someone who speaks your language. Hearing-impaired riders can dial WA Relay at 711. 
    • Call Sound Transit customer service at 888-889-6368, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. If you need an interpreter, call 1 (800) 823-9230 and state your language. Hearing-impaired riders can dial TTY Relay at 711. 
  • ORCA Card – Card used for all transit providers in the Puget Sound region.
  • Reduced fare ORCA – Learn about reduced fare ORCA card programs.
  • Youth ORCA Card – Card for youth 18 or younger to ride free on all participating agencies. 
  • Transit GO Ticket App – App for Android and iPhone to purchase tickets directly for King County Metro, Water Taxi, Sound Transit, Sounder trains, Kitsap County, and Seattle Streetcar using your credit card, debit card, or cash.

Note: For commuters, many employers offer transit benefits. Ask your employer if you qualify for an ORCA card.

Transit services for seniors and people with disabilities 

  • King County’s services and programs – List of accessible mobility services provided by King County. 
  • Hopelink Find a Ride – Transportation resources for veterans, seniors, people with disabilities, low-income individuals, and others.  
  • Hopelink Medicaid Transportation – Rides to and from medical appointments for Medicaid recipients. 
  • Hyde Shuttles – Shuttle transportation for older adults and adults with disabilities throughout King County. 
  • Metro Flex – On-demand transit service that provides rides within multiple King County neighborhoods. ADA-accessible vehicles for customers with wheelchairs and other mobility devices are available.
